Solutions to Poverty in Latin America

Poverty has been a constant in human history, it was only after the industrial revolution that welfare reached a large part of the population. A quick look at a world map on industrialization shows a clear link between poverty and lack of industrialization. To give some examples, African countries have very few industries and the most poverty. Most countries in Latin America have some industries so less poverty, and the most industrialized countries like USA, western Europe and japan are the richest with the least amount of poverty. Britain was the first country to industrialize, and did not let her colonies imitate her to keep an advantage over others. The attitude is repeated and practiced by most rich countries through trade and finances, thus increasing the gap between rich and poor. This is historically explained in a book by Norwegian economist Erik Reinert called “How Rich Countries Got Rich, and Why Poor Countries Stay Poor”.

Why Countries go to War?

Wars have been part of life since the beginning of time. As long as there has been humans, there has been conflict, and with conflict killing. But in the past the causes for war were different than today. God played the most important role in most people’s lives, and so when people went to war they thought they were doing it because it was their duty and the orders came from God. Rulers were appointed by God and were carrying orders from above. After all, if the Gods favored one or the other side to win a particular war it was for the good of all. Now people no longer believes in those things; in fact, most people find it appalling to act in such a way.

Is Artificial Intelligence Dangerous?

A hot topic right now is artificial intelligence. The term AI is being used everywhere by companies, and marketed as new/improved versions. In this article we’ll see if those programs are really intelligent and if they are really better with an AI implementation. There are many other questions being raised as new the technology advances; for example, how they are going to be regulated, weather they are safe for everyone, or if they will be a threat to humanity as a whole. A prominently writer and speaker from Israel, Yuval Noah Harari, said that human beings are now hackable animals. He meant that governments and corporations know more about us than we know ourselves and this can lead to a digital dictatorships. Here’s the CNN interview.

Climate Change Essay

George Carlin said in one of his shows: “The planet is fine; the people are f**d”. He was talking about climate activism. There seems to be a lot of concern about the earth, and we are constanly hearing a lot about climate change. Before that it was global warming, and before that global cooling. Let’s see if we can set the record straight. The biggest institution promoting the concerns about climate change is the United Nations. The issue is defined as the changes in shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, and since the industrial revolution [we are lead to believe] the primary cause is the burning of coal, oil and gas.

What is the Role of the President of the USA

A couple days ago I asked my mom if she was going to vote in the presidential election. She responded: “I don’t think so. Honestly, neither one is worth it”. I lost faith in the elections for many years already. Some conspiracy theorists call it “presidential selection”. There is so much manipulation from the news and in social media that one starts to question if it really makes a different to vote. Trump was just elected president and according to the latest estimate the turnout was higher than previous years. Maybe it is just my perception that people just don’t care who’s at the White House.
